This September 26, the Youth Justice Club, the Social Justice Project Club, the Latin American Student Organization and the La Voz Club came together to commemorate the second year of the missing 43 students in Ayotzinapa, México.
Part II: Professor morin's Book launch
A second part to Professor Morín's book launch was held at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. This all-day conference was open to the college's students and faculty with the same goal of demystifying stereotypes and shedding light to facts that go unnoticed. La Voz along with other clubs contributed to the making of this event.
Part I: Press briefing for Professor Morin's
Book Launch
A press briefing took place for Professor Morín's book launch, at the Time Warner Center building in New York City. Through this press briefing, Professor Morín held panel discussions with other prominent scholars and practitioners regarding common misconceptions about Latinx in the US, mass incarceration, the War on Drugs and global drug policies, Latinx data gap, activism, visioning and solutions.
UNdocumented justice workshop
In collaboration with the Social Justice Project Club, the Youth Justice Club, and the Latin American and Latina/o Studies Department at John Jay College, a workshop was held to help students and faculty understand the history of immigration in the US and our rights when we are approached by immigration officers. Luba, a member of Make the Road New York, facilitated this workshop with historical facts and fact sheets on our rights.

Film Screening : NO Le digas a nadie (don't
tell anyone)
This film screening could not happen without the support of the USIFL Program, U.S. Department of Education, The Latin American Studies Department, The JJAY Dreamers, The Social Justice Project, Youth Justice, JJAY Women's Empowerment, The Women's Center, LASO JJAY, and La Voz Club. No Le Digas A Nadie, is a remarkable film about Angy Rivera's journey as an undocumented student, and stepping out and advocating and sharing her story to many throughout the world.
¡PAlante siempre palante! The young lords
JJAY Latin American Department: JJAY Dreamers: Youth Justice: Dominican Students Association: Transfer Student Club: The Social Justice Project: Latin American Student Organization: and La Voz collaborated in screening the film ¡Palante Siempre Palante! The Young Lords, and having film maker and former member of YLO Iris Morales present.
Athletic Event
Clubs such as the JJAY Dreamers, Youth Justice, and La Voz collaborated in this athletic event to gather members, recruit new members, and have some fun playing soccer!!!!
DIa dE los muertos event
To commemorate those loved one that have passed, La Voz members worked to assemble and build this altar in the Latin American Department at John Jay College.
La VOz Open House
Members and faculty from the Latin American department gathered together for the Open House. Here the new executive board was introduced, and Professors Lisandro Perez and Jose Luis Morin presented on the Latin American and Latin@s Studies major/minor. As well Natalia Marte introducing the Ronald H. Brown program, and John Jay students Myriam Santamaria and Elida Almaraz presenting the their experience at Study Abroad in Cuba and Ecuador.
